The Kennedale Police Department reported the following 14 incidents for the one week period March 10, 2019 through March 16, 2019. The reports included burglary, public intoxication, assault of a public servant, animal cruelty, possession, theft and found property.? {{more: continue …}}

These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.

3/17 – Assault Bodily Injury -? At 12:53 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A male and female were arguing over a cell phone that the male refused to return to the female. During the altercation the female attempted to grab the phone away and bit the male?s hand, causing visible injury. The female was placed under arrest for the assault and was transported to jail for booking.

3/18 – Assault of a Public Servant – Crestview Drive: At 1:13 a.m. an officer observed a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner. Upon trying to stop the vehicle the driver committed multiple traffic violations before stopping in the roadway on Crestview Drive at Kennedale Parkway. Upon approaching the vehicle the officer could smell the odor of marijuana. The male driver was acting as though he was under the influence of an intoxicant. The officer was able to get the driver to step to the back of the vehicle for a DWI investigation. As the officer attempted to handcuff the driver he became combative and began to violently resist the officer and his back-up. After several minutes of violent resistance, the suspect was warned that he would be Tasered if he didn?t stop. After it was obvious the male would not stop resisting, the arresting officered deployed his Taser, causing the male to cease resisting. He was handcuffed and placed in a unit for transport to jail. The male resumed his violent behavior during transport and booking. He was charged with Assault on a Public Servant, DWI, and Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport.

3/19 – Animal Cruelty – S. Kenney Street: At 6:50 p.m. a witness reported seeing an unknown male mistreating an animal. The witness stated that earlier he had observed a male (suspect) throw a small pit bull dog out of an apartment into a parking area. The dog landed on its back on the pavement. The suspect then coaxed the animal to come to him in order to strike the animal with a stick. The suspect took the dog back into the apartment. The witness stated that he continued to hear the dog cry out for several minutes before stopping.

3/19 – Burglary – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 9:00 p.m. a victim reported that unknown person(s) had burglarized his business. Entry was made by cutting a lock off and suspect(s) removed tools and a stereo system.

3/19 – Possession Control Substance – Steeplechase Trail: At 7:02 p.m. officers responded to a reckless driver complaint. The vehicle, a Dodge Ram truck, was located and stopped after an officer observed the driver almost strike a pedestrian. The female driver appeared to be heavily intoxicated. She was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment. The female was also in possession of multiple pain medications which were not in prescription containers. She was placed under arrest for DWI as well as the narcotics. The driver was transported to jail where a warrant was obtained for a mandatory blood draw. She was booked in by jail personnel.

3/21 – Public Intoxication – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 2:27 a.m. officers responded to a report of a suspicious person. A male was at a business location and had refused to leave. The male was unconscious when officers arrived. After getting the male to awaken, the officers found him to be confused and smelling of an alcoholic beverage. He was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication as well as two warrants from other cities.

3/21 – Assault by Contact – Wildcat Way: On this date a school resource officer was notified of an assault that occurred during the previous week. Upon exiting a class room during the school day a female victim reported that she was assaulted by another female student. The suspect, a juvenile, admitted to the fight. A case will be referred to the juvenile court.

3/21 – Theft $750 to $2,500 -? At 3:08 p.m. a victim reported that his son had removed two TVs from the victim?s home and sold them. This is part of an ongoing family dispute. The case is under investigation.

3/22 – Possession Marijuana – Sublett Road: At 10:21 a.m. officers responded to a report of a male in the area of Cloverlane Drive, possibly in possession of narcotics. When the first officer arrived he located the male on Hilltop Drive. The male fled on foot when he observed the police vehicle. The male was ultimately located and detained on Sublett Road a short distance away. The male was reported to have fled the Alternative Education building after a confrontation with district staff. He smelled of marijuana and had a large amount of cash on him. The male was also in possession of a back pack. It was determined that the back pack contained an inoperable training firearm that appeared to be a functional Glock 9mm. He was also in possession of a digital scale and a bag of marijuana. Several hundred dollars in cash was located in his pocket. The male was arrested and transported to jail for booking.

3/22 – Burglary – At 5:55 p.m. a victim reported that her estranged husband had entered her home without permission and removed property that wasn?t his. The husband has not lived in the home for three years. A witness observed the theft occur.

3/23 – Theft $100 to $750 – At 12:00 p.m. a victim reported that his brother had removed a window unit air conditioner from their father?s home. The victim stated that the unit was his and he was waiting to remove it himself until he could patch the hole in the wall that it would leave. This is part of an ongoing family dispute.

3/23 – Abandoned /Found Property – S. Dick Price Road: At 4:06 p.m. an officer received a report of an unsecured firearm in a field. A passing motorist had observed the firearm and reported it. The officer found a loaded Colt Model 1911 .45 laying unattended. The firearm was secured in property and evidence after determining that it wasn?t reported stolen.

3/23 – Assault by Contact (Family Violence) – At 6:20 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A male and female were in the process of breaking up. The female was removing property from the residence when an argument occurred. During the argument the male reported that the female pushed him. The female was arrested for the assault by contact. She was transported to jail for booking.

3/23 – Warrant Service – Crestview Drive: At 5:44 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. A warrant check revealed that the male operator was wanted on a drug charge out of Grand Prairie. He was arrested and transported to jail for booking.
