AUSTIN, Texas– Former Kennedale High School student, Simone Warner, a junior at The University of Texas at Austin, has helped launch FreshmanSupport.com, a national site aimed at empowering high school students seeking college information.

“The process of applying, choosing and moving to college was intimidating for me,” said Simone, KHS Class of 2008. ‘I wish I would have had a resource like Freshman Support. I didn’t know where to begin.”

Last year, 17,000 students used FreshmanSupport.com, a free online tool that enables high school juniors and seniors to find more information about college, including student life on campus and financial planning and advice.

In early 2014, FreshmanSupport.com CEO and founder, Kristen Carson, re-launched the site to include an active community of college students and advisors who serve as engaging mentors. Features such as a roommate matcher and a downloadable calendar are also available to remind students of important university and FAFSA deadlines.

“The site serves as a helpful head-start to college life,” says Carson. “We want to give high school students access to many resources they might not otherwise get from standard university websites.”

FreshmanSupport.com strives to alleviate the complicated process that many high school students and their parents often face when planning for college. The site also includes uploaded admission essays templates as well as video tours of dorms and life on campus.

“I’m so glad to have had this opportunity to make student’s lives just a little easier,” Warner said.

Warner dedicates her time answering questions and sharing her experiences at The University of Texas at Austin on FreshmanSupport.com. There, students can view university specific college guides, blog posts and “Day in the Life”? videos from community managers, who are helpful college students like Simone Warner. There are over 40 universities currently listed on the website with plans to eventually expand to every university in the country.
