Our Confidence, Trust and Hope

There would be times that we find ourselves at a crossroad. When we find ourselves between two or more opinions.

There would be times when what we go through in life does not match what God promises.

Yes, there would be times when our faith and trust in God would be challenged and tested by opposing beliefs, relationships, moral and societal ethical standards and authorities etc.

There would be times that our confident hope and trust in God may be questionable because our circumstances are often misjudged by others, and surprisingly by ourselves at some time.

One of the most scary places to be in life is putting our confidence in ourselves alone. Believe me, it is even more scary to place our confidence in persons because they too can fail us. So, in whom/what do we put our confidence and hope? Prophet Micah advised us in his book- Micah 7:5 that, “Do not trust a neighbor; put no confidence in a friend. Even with the woman who lies in your embrace guard the words of your lips.” Who then can we trust?

Our confidence, hope and trust should be in God Almighty; the Maker of the Universe. When we confess our trust in Him alone, our confidence will never be misplaced. He will never let us down. Our confidence and our hope is secure because He is faithful and will not fail us.

Let these scriptures encourage you this day to not lose hope nor confidence in God despite all the disappointments and failures you’ve been through. Rather, let your experiences draw you closer to God because He’s the only One who understands you more than you know yourself nor expect someone else to know you. God knows our frames, thoughts, and actions.

A. Trusting God provides us a safe haven. Proverbs 14:26 – In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

B. Putting your trust, hope and confidence in God is the wisest thing to do and the safest place to be.
Jeremiah 17:7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.
Hebrews 13:6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

C. Putting your trust, hope and confidence in God is assuring.
1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

D. Putting your trust, hope and confidence in God is the wise thing to do because it has never ending benefits. In Matthew 7, Jesus said everyone who hears his words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Then he went on to say everyone who hears his words and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand (Matthew 7:24-26).

Proverbs 3:5-8 (KJV) 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

God bless you🙏
