According to Ron, his family has been raising bison for almost 30 years and recently purchased the historic Texas Goodnight Ranch, re-introducing bison to the ranch after a near 100 year absence.

 

But socks are not all they offer. Items include gloves, socks and hats as well as American bison yarns and kits.

 
Why bison products? The answer starts with the question, ?Have you ever seen a shivering bison?? According to the company press release, the answer is the downy undercoat that protects animal down to a temperature of -40 degrees.
 
?Bison fiber is ultra-insulating, wicks moisture away from you skin, and really is soft and amazingly comfortable.?
 
The fiber is actually gather three different ways. One way is gathering the fiber that is shed once a year in the spring using street sweeping brushes. Another is buying fiber that is sheared from hides at packing plants. And a third way is actually shearing the animals in spring round-ups in a process that includes very large holding chutes that prevent injury to both man and bison.
