Thursday night, December 20, at its regular meeting and in front of an unusually large crowd, the KISD Board of Trustees took the following actions:?
  • approved the re-turf of the high school football field;?
  • approved a plan to put artificial turf on the high school softball and baseball fields (all three items are to be paid from the 2012-13 budget with funds designated as ?Maintenance Construction? and undesignated gas revenue funds); {{more}}
  • approved the calendar for the 2013-14;
  • accepted the resignation of school board member John Hunt;
  • appointed former long-time member Eddie Patterson as replacement for John Hunt until elections can be held in May to fill the empty position;
  • and, hired Kim Hunt as counselor at James Arthur Intermediate to fill a vacancy due to a resignation.

Superintendent Gary Dugger announced that the district under the direction of Associate Superintendent Rick Edwards would be doing a complete overhaul of district hiring procedures. Mr. Dugger also said that new guidelines along with training programs would be implemented dealing with appropriated teacher/staff conduct toward students. Kennedale High School is already working on programs towards meeting this objective.
